Thescreescore – Emma Stone’s commitment to her craft knows no bounds, as evidenced by her recent head-shaving experience for the film "Bugonia," a reimagining of the South Korean film "Save the Green Planet!". Stone, portraying pharmaceutical CEO Michell Fuller, confessed to Entertainment Weekly about the anxieties surrounding this dramatic transformation.
The actress revealed a meditative approach to overcome her fears, focusing on stillness during the crucial moment. "I was so afraid" she admitted, emphasizing the one-take nature of the scene, captured by four cameras to ensure its success.

"Bugonia," released just in time for Halloween, is a sci-fi comedy directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, known for his previous collaborations with Stone in "Poor Things," "The Favourite," and "Kinds of Kindness." The film stars Stone alongside Jesse Plemons, Stavros Halkias, Aidan Delbis, and Alicia Silverstone. The plot revolves around two conspiracy theorists who kidnap Fuller, convinced she is an alien sent to destroy Earth.

Lanthimos praised Stone’s dedication, stating that convincing her to shave her head was surprisingly easy. According to the director, Stone only had a slight hesitation before the act, a "knot in her stomach," but ultimately embraced the transformation. "She saw herself, and she really loved it, and she felt very free," Lanthimos shared.
Beyond the shaved head, Stone’s character also endures thick layers of lotion applied to her body, a tactic employed by Plemons’ character to suppress her supposed alien powers. Stone explained the challenges of this process, noting that human skin temperature can melt many creams, requiring extensive testing to find the right formula.
"Bugonia" has garnered positive reviews, holding an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s box office performance is also noteworthy, marking the biggest opening weekend for Lanthimos.
