The character of Gwen Stacy was previously brought to life in live-action by Emma Stone in Marc Webb’s "The Amazing Spider-Man" films. Stone’s portrayal met a tragic end in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," mirroring the character’s iconic comic book demise.

COLLABMEDIANET

Currently, Gwen Stacy thrives in the animated "Spider-Verse" franchise, with Hailee Steinfeld voicing the character. While a female-led "Spider-Verse" spin-off has been rumored, updates have been scarce.

Interestingly, an alternate version of Gwen Stacy is slated to appear in the second season of the animated Disney+ series, "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," set in a different corner of the MCU multiverse. However, the voice actress for this iteration remains a mystery.

Despite the character’s growing popularity, Marvel Studios currently has no confirmed plans to introduce Spider-Gwen in live-action, primarily due to Sony Pictures holding the rights. Sony’s live-action Spider-Man projects are currently focused on Tom Holland’s portrayal in collaboration with Marvel and Disney.

Given Spider-Gwen’s surge in popularity, it seems inevitable that Sony will explore her potential beyond animation. Meanwhile, fans eagerly await the release of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
