Thescreescore – Prolific filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s latest R-rated action spectacle, In the Grey, is poised for a rapid home media debut this July, offering audiences another chance to experience its high-octane thrills. Following its theatrical premiere in May, the star-studded action thriller, which saw Ritchie deliver one of his two cinematic offerings for 2026, is now set to hit physical and digital platforms, completing its initial rollout.
Black Bear Pictures, Ritchie’s production banner, has officially announced that In the Grey will be available on Blu-ray and DVD starting Tuesday, July 28. This swift transition to physical media comes just over two months after its theatrical release, positioning it perfectly for summer viewing. For those eager to dive in sooner, the film is already accessible for purchase or rental across various digital platforms.

In the Grey plunges viewers into a world of high stakes and dangerous alliances. The narrative centers on Rachel Wild, a sharp-witted lawyer portrayed by Eiza González, who finds herself entangled with two enigmatic fixers, Sid (Henry Cavill) and Bronco (Jake Gyllenhaal). Their mission: to reclaim a staggering $1 billion debt from a formidable crime lord, a quest ignited by the murder of Rachel’s mentor. The formidable lead trio is supported by an impressive ensemble cast including Kristofer Hivju, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jason Wong, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike. Ritchie not only helmed the project but also penned the screenplay and served as a producer alongside John Friedberg, Dave Caplan, and Ivan Atkinson.

During its theatrical run, the action thriller garnered nearly $24 million at the box office and received a polarized reception from critics. While the film holds a 49% "Rotten" score on Rotten Tomatoes’ critic-driven Tomatometer, audience sentiment, as reflected by the Popcornmeter, is considerably more positive at 83%. A review from thescreescore.com awarded the film seven out of ten stars, noting that despite its "star-powered cast bringing plenty of charm," the narrative itself felt "overly safe and predictable, rarely offering anything that separates it from the broader genre."
As In the Grey concludes its initial distribution phase with its home media release, industry observers are now speculating on its eventual streaming home. Ritchie’s recent projects have shown varied distribution paths; his 2025 film Fountain of Youth is an Apple TV-exclusive, while 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare can be found on Peacock and Fandango at Home.
Ritchie’s creative engine shows no signs of slowing down. His next cinematic endeavor, the thriller Wife & Dog, is slated for an October 23 theatrical release, featuring a stellar cast including Rosamund Pike, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Anthony Hopkins. Additionally, in April, Ritchie completed principal photography on his adaptation of the novel Viva la Madness. This film, starring Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones, and Jason Isaacs, will offer a fresh take on the source material, notably diverging from its literary counterpart by not serving as a direct sequel to the 2004 film Layer Cake. Beyond the big screen, Ritchie’s television series, Young Sherlock, debuted on Prime Video two months prior to In the Grey‘s theatrical run. The series, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn, marks Ritchie’s third foray into the Sherlock Holmes universe and has already secured a second season order following positive critical acclaim.
