Thescreescore – A delightful sneak peek into the world of Shrek 5 has emerged, not from a Hollywood studio, but from the heart of New York City! A test run of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2025 unveiled a brand-new balloon featuring everyone’s favorite ogre family, offering a first glimpse at Shrek and Fiona’s sons, Fergus and Farkle.
The reveal came via a YouTube video from TODAY, showcasing Macy’s balloon testing on November 1, 2025. The balloon depicts an onion carriage, with Shrek and Donkey playfully peeking out. Inside, a charming image of Fiona alongside their triplets, Fergus and Farkle, solidifies the family’s central role in the upcoming film.

The Shrek balloon is one of 32 that will grace the skies during the annual parade. Joining the ogre clan are other iconic characters like Buzz Lightyear, Mario, and Pac-Man, promising a spectacle for parade-goers of all ages.

Beyond the balloons, the 2025 parade will also introduce new floats from brands like LEGO, Lindor Truffles, Serta, and Pop Mart. The Pop Mart float will feature giant versions of its popular Labubu figures.
While the parade offers a fun preview, the plot of Shrek 5 remains tightly under wraps. However, the core cast, including Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Fiona, are confirmed to return. Adding to the excitement, Zendaya joins the voice cast as Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, expanding the ogre family dynamic.
The film’s release has seen a few shuffles, moving from an initial date of July 1, 2026, to December 23, 2026, and now settling on June 30, 2027. While no official reason has been given for the delays, speculation points to strategic maneuvering to avoid clashing with other major releases, such as Avengers: Doomsday.
Mark your calendars! The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air live on NBC on November 27, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM ET. Get ready for a holiday treat with a touch of ogre magic!
