Arise, Sir David: King Charles III Confers Knighthood on David Beckham; Victoria Becomes Lady Beckham

Football legend and former England captain, David Beckham, has officially been knighted by King Charles III in an emotional investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle on Tuesday (November 4, 2025). The prestigious title of Knight Bachelor was conferred upon Beckham for his extensive services to sport and charity.

The knighthood—the highest honor of its kind—means the global icon will now be formally known as Sir David Beckham. Consequently, his wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, will now carry the title Lady Beckham.

Proudest Moment and Philanthropic Work

The 50-year-old sports figure, who attended the ceremony accompanied by his wife and parents, described the event as his “proudest moment” surpassing any of his career achievements.

Beckham expressed deep gratitude and patriotism after the ceremony.

“I’ve been very obviously lucky in my career to have won what I’ve won and done what I’ve done, but to receive an honour like this, of a knight, is beyond anything that I ever thought that I would receive,” Sir David told reporters.

The honor particularly recognizes his significant philanthropic work, including his long-standing role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005 and his recent role as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation (one of King Charles’ charities) since 2024.

Royal Style Inspiration

Adding a unique touch to the occasion, David Beckham revealed that the bespoke grey three-piece suit he wore was designed by his wife, Victoria, and was inspired by the sartorial style of King Charles III himself during his younger years. King Charles reportedly complimented the suit during their brief but warm exchange at the ceremony.

Beckham’s knighthood comes more than two decades after he was first honored with an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2003 by the late Queen Elizabeth II. This latest accolade cements his status not only as a footballing great but as a significant cultural and charitable figure in British society. Source : https://rakyatnesia.com/
